As the royal family seems to up their game amid the COVID-19 pandemic, a royal expert claimed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are the "big losers" in the middle of it. As they chose to move out and live in the United States, Phil Dampier said they missed their chance to boost their public image.
The journalist claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not have the chance to gain the same popularity as other members of the royal family during the coronavirus outbreak. Hence, he saw that their decision to step down as senior royals in January made them the "big losers."
Dampier told Express that the lockdown had been good for the royals' image, but not for the Sussexes. He then said that they were the "big losers" in this as they seemed to look "isolated and somewhat irrelevant" in the United Kingdom.
The Prince Philip: Wise Words and Golden Gaffes author added that their absence during the health crisis in the U.K. resulted in losing the interest of their fans. Although they might still have a huge role to play internationally or in America, Dampier believed people in the U.K. would be uninterested in them.
As other royals' popularity rapidly increases and they play their roles perfectly as well, the public loses its interest in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Meanwhile, according to Us Weekly, the couple is still settling into their new lives in Los Angeles, California, after they moved from Canada in March.
A couple of months following their move, sources revealed that they were "handling the adjustment very differently." Although there were rumors that the Duke of Sussex did not feel great about their decision to relocate, some sources revealed it was not the case.
Some said Prince Harry was actually excited to begin a new chapter of his life, together with his wife and son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, in a place far away from the royal spotlight. A source told Us it was a new phase for him and a "breath of fresh air from his former duties."
Whatever the case, Prince Harry always wanted to make Meghan Markle, "happy, safe, and comfortable." Allegedly, he never liked to be under the royal spotlight growing up.
Although Meghan Markle was being blamed for his decision to leave the monarchy, Prince Harry highly likely wanted to do so "just as much." However, he had to make a huge adjustment as everything seemed to happen all at once--he got married, became a father, and left the royal family in less than two years.
