Liza Minnelli is setting the record straight, amid reports that she's been helping Prince Harry and Meghan Markle get their life on track in Los Angeles. The veteran theater star said that she is not friends with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex because she has never even met them in person.

In a post on Facebook, Minnelli shared a link to a report from The Sun that said Prince Harry and Meghan have gotten help from the Broadway star in Los Angeles. Minnelli said that the report is "a complete fabrication" as she has never met the royal couple.

Minnelli, however, was good friends with Prince Harry's late mother, Princess Diana. In a Hello report from 2019, the star of Cabaret said that she met the late princess after she did a series of shows would often meet each other again in premieres and events. They would often come together for tea and talk "about everything under the sun."

The cinema star said she had an instinct to protect Princess Diana because of her public profile. They got along so well together because they could be themselves next to each other, and away from the prying eyes of the public.

Minnelli is cinema royalty, as the daughter of iconic actress Judy Garland of The Wizard of Oz fame and director Vicente Minnelli. The singer said that she's had people around her "bowing" to her all her life that it was a relief to just let her hair down with the Princess of Wales when they are together.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan have their own high-profile celebrity friends who can help them in the United States, such as George and Amal Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, David Foster and Katherine McPhee, and the Obamas. Elton John and Adele are also two British natives who have made Los Angeles their homebase, hence the Sussexes may have had helped from these celebrities.

Prince Harry and Meghan have been living in L.A. since the middle of March, just as the stay-at-home orders against the coronavirus were set in place. They were supposed to launch their new foundation, Archewell, in the spring but reports now say that this will be pushed back to 2021.

Currently, Prince Harry and Meghan want to concentrate their efforts to help out those affected by the coronavirus. They are also hoping to learn more about the Black Lives Matter movement and work on some organizations related to this cause.
