Queen Elizabeth is, allegedly, feeling betrayed by the claims made by Meghan Markle, who said in court documents that the royal family didn't protect her from the attacks of the press during her pregnancy. Royal author Phil Dampier believes that Queen Elizabeth is "absolutely devastated" by what her granddaughter-in-law revealed in her lawsuit against the British tabloid media.

Speaking with The Telegraph, Dampier said that Queen Elizabeth extended all the welcome and support for Meghan from the very beginning. Her Majesty broke protocol when she invited Meghan, who was still not a member of the royal family, for Christmas in Sandringham in 2017. She also gifted Meghan and Prince Harry with a house in the middle of Windsor Great Park, among other adjustments made for the Sussexes.

But, favors and gifts aside, Meghan claimed in the lawsuit that Kensington Palace prevented her from addressing rumors and speculations about her life, while the press invaded her privacy. The damaging articles written about her by the tabloid media, reportedly, brought "tremendous emotional distress," her lawyers said, and it happened while she pregnant with her first child with Prince Harry.

Meghan's friends apparently grew worried for the Duchess of Sussex, as they have never seen her bothered by the press. Because she was "unprotected by the Institution," which some royal observers interpreted to mean Queen Elizabeth, the friends decided to talk on Meghan's behalf to People. But that interview spiraled into one controversy after the next.

Five of her friends came out to defend Meghan, especially against the claims of her father, Thomas Markle. Meghan's father, in turn, had to defend himself from the duchess' friends, kicking off the problems detailed in the lawsuit.

Proceedings to this lawsuit will likely start by early 2021. In the meantime, royal observers also wonder whether Queen Elizabeth will see Meghan, Prince Harry and their son Archie soon. A source told New Idea that Queen Elizabeth is, reportedly, increasingly concerned that she might never see Archie again

Apparently, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also filed a lawsuit in March on behalf of Archie against the tabloid media, who took photos of the baby while he was out and about with his mother in public. This lawsuit is also another worry for Queen Elizabeth as she believes Meghan will apparently drag her grandson, who is barely speaking at 14 months old, into a legal battle that he didn't ask for, the source said.

Queen Elizabeth is, reportedly, the first to admit that the media should have a good working relationship with the royals, with lawsuits serving only as a last resort. Meghan and Prince Harry, however, have, reportedly, filed at least five lawsuits against the tabloids since last year.
