Being a student is a lot of work -- essays, exams, lecture notes -- sometimes it can be too overwhelming. Not a lot of people are good at organizing notes, so if you're one of them, there's always a workaround.

Here are some handy apps to organize your notes better, so you can increase your productivity as a student.

Notability

If you're the type of student who gave up on using pen and paper and choose to take notes using an iPad and Apple Pencil instead, Notability is just the app for you. This app is often compared to Goodnotes 5 because of their nearly similar features. And while both are great, Notability wins this round.

This app does a great job of keeping track of your notes and comes with a trick of matching your Pencil strokes with your handwriting style in real life. It's pretty cool. It's got a simple organization system too, which lets you arrange your notes in color-coded pages. You shouldn't spend a lot of time finding notes on each subject.

Notion

If you haven't used Notion before, it could be confusing. The app has pioneered a new way to take notes by using Blocks. Every page has them in the form of quotes, numbered lists, headers, texts, and a whole lot more.

Notion comes complete with project management boards, tables, and calendars so you won't have to get other apps for these tasks. But what makes this app so great is that you can add links to your text that will take you to a different part of your Notion hierarchy -- perfect for students with scattered ideas.

Microsoft OneNote

For those who don't want to spend a dime on note-taking apps, Microsoft OneNote should work. The program is available on every major platform, including the web. Although, OneNote required OneDrive so you can store and sync your projects. It's a good thing, however, that for every Microsoft account, there's a 5GB OneDrive plan.

On OneNote, you'll have access to a lot of multi-colored Notebooks, which you can divide into Pages and Sections. You can use Pages to create notes and use tables, pictures, text boxes, and PDF print-outs. And if you own a Surface device, an iPad and Apple Pencil, or any gadget that makes use of a stylus, OneNote comes ready with one of the best handwriting supports.

There are a lot of note-taking apps in the wild -- use them to your advantage.
