A lot of stories are coming once Snowpiercer season 2 arrives on TNT, considering the things that happened in the season 1 finale. For instance, Melanie has lost her leadership position and there's now a role-reversal aboard the train. It seems like this could be the focus of the upcoming installment.

The new roles of Melanie and Layton will be the center of everything in Snowpiercer season 2. In an interview with TV Insider, executive producer Graeme Manson has something to say about this subject and what the changes will look like.

Manson explained they try and parse out the big revealed about Melanie and Layton and make their concern different for each of them. They have switched roles, with Layton about to begin the hard task of creating democracy and carries a huge responsibility.

In Snowpiercer season 2, Layton will finally understand how brutal it is to make a decision of who lives and who dies. And beyond that, Manson revealed they're setting him up for a transition from revolutionary to some sort of a proper politician.

As for Melanie, she resigned and allowed this transfer of power and supports it. She has given up politics and moving forward, she'll be spending her life understanding the science of survival. In addition, her daughter, Alexandra, is now part of the story and her arrival could change some things.

Meanwhile, Game of Thrones alum Sean Bean joins Snowpiercer season 2. He will be playing the role of Mr. Wilford, the creator of the train. There are only a few details about this character, as his backstory is yet to be explored. He could have a huge impact on the lives of others, especially Melanie and Layton.

Mr. Wilford's arrival was originally set up in the finale of the first season. However, the series opted to go in a different direction. Instead of introducing him, the story chose to set up the arrival of Melanie's daughter Alexandra in season 1 finale.

There are a lot of intriguing stories coming in the new installment. The good thing is that we don't have to worry about its future since TNT already renewed it while the first installment is still airing. Yet, we have to wait for a while to see when it will arrive.

CarterMatt noted that most of Snowpiercer season 2 has already been filmed. Hence, cast and crew could wrap things up when the situation gets a little bit better. If ever, we could likely see the second installment premiering at some point in 2021.
