Prince William has some great ideas to help "crack homelessness" and he believes that the coronavirus pandemic has opened a way for coming up with proper solutions to this social problem for good.

Speaking with members of The Light Project at the Garden House, which has been helping hundreds of homeless people in Petersborough, Prince William expressed hope that the pandemic crisis could bring "slivers of positivity and goodness" that will benefit the homeless.

The Duke of Cambridge said that he has heard of hotels in New York that have been converted to homeless accommodations in the absence of tourists. Prince William said that opportunities like these may also be followed in the U.K. but they need to be "brave and bold" to get things done right.

It's partly why Prince William met with The Light Project so that he could learn what the organization has been doing to help the homeless people during this crisis. The organization has partnered with different industries in providing long-term housing solutions to reduce the number of people living off the streets.

Prince William was pleased to know that the local city council has diverted 130 homeless people in hotels and other care centers in Petersborough. He was also able to talk to actual homeless people who said that they will never camp out again, thanks to the help extended by the Garden House and the Light Project's help.

The second in line to the British throne was exposed to the plight of the homeless at an early age, when his mother, Princess Diana, brought habitually him to Centrepoint, another charity that also deals with this social problem in London. The Centrepoint is one of the first charities the Duke of Cambridge took over when he started working for the royal family and he has been a frequent visitor of this organization for nearly two decades.

The last time Prince William was personally taking care of the problems of the homeless was in February, before the lockdown, where he met a homeless man who needed a prosthetic limb. The Duke of Cambridge arranged for the man to be in touch with the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, since he is also ex-service personnel.

Prince William is also slowly teaching his children about the problems of homelessness. The father-of-three has had conversations about why there are people who live on the streets with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, as they often see homeless people on the way to school.
