Princess Beatrice was always set on having her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, present at her royal wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi but the coronavirus pandemic almost ruined her plans. After carefully making changes, the York royal was able to exchange vows before with her beloved grandmother as a witness.

Her wedding to Edo highlighted just how much Princess Beatrice values Queen Elizabeth. She chose to tie the knot in Windsor, to be near where her grandmother and grandfather had been isolating since March from the coronavirus pandemic.

Princess Beatrice, also, made a last-minute request to Queen Elizabeth to wear one of her vintage gowns. The hand-me-down looked perfect on the blushing bride, especially when she capped her wedding ensemble off with the same tiara Queen Elizabeth wore when she got married more than 70 years ago.

A friend said that Princess Beatrice always likes to talk about her grandmother and it is pretty clear they have this strong connection. Being given the privilege to wear an heirloom piece, such as the diamond tiara, and the vintage gown says a lot about the kind of relationship Princess Beatrice enjoys with Queen Elizabeth.

In a 2017 interview, Princess Beatrice opened up about her role models and said that she looks up to two strong women: her mother, Sarah Ferguson, and Queen Elizabeth. The princess said that her grandmother is an inspiring person because she has this "overwhelming sense of duty" and "overwhelming curiosity."

Princess Beatrice also said that her grandmother still wants to learn something new even at her age. The Queen goes out of her way to feed her curiosity because that is apparently how "she can be a force for good in the world," her granddaughter said.

The York royal often celebrates her milestones with her grandmother. When Princess Beatrice turned 30 years old in 2018, she was seen on the morning of her birthday with the Queen as they went to hear a church service together.

When Princess Beatrice announced her engagement and wedding plans to Edo in the fall of 2019, Queen Elizabeth gifted the couple the use of the Buckingham Palace gardens for the wedding reception. The last time the Queen had a wedding party at her official home was in 2011, when Prince William and Kate Middleton got married.

Unfortunately, Princess Beatrice and Edo were not able to use the palace gardens for their wedding since they had to scale down the affair to comply with the government's guidelines. Queen Elizabeth, however, reportedly, didn't want Princess Beatrice diminished even as her wedding was small and hardly grand by royal standards. So, the monarch let her granddaughter wear her vintage dress and symbolic tiara.
