Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston should have been celebrating their 20th anniversary this year if they did not end up divorced in 2005. Many fans are still hoping for the two's reconciliation, especially after their divorces from their respective partners. So, take a look back at the time Hollywood's golden couple made everyone fell in love.

Everything started in 1998. According to Us Weekly, Pitt and Aniston were "set up by their agents." Angelina Jolie's ex-husband was Hollywood's best leading man, while Jen was the television sweetheart because of her stint on Friends.

They were the perfect combination, and they both knew there was something special between them on their first date. In an interview with Diane Sawyer in January 2004, the 51-year-old actress revealed they had a "really easy" and fun evening on their first outing.

From here, the rest is history. They made their relationship red carpet official when they went to the 51st Primetime Emmy Awards in 1999. After a few months, they crashed Sting's concert in New York City to show her engagement ring.

In 2000, they finally tied the knot and had a lavish wedding in Malibu. However, after four years, everything changed when she met Jolie on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

In 2005, Aniston revealed she and Pitt decided to break-up. At the time, she told Vanity Fair that her estranged husband already made his choices and could do whatever he wanted. She even admitted they were "divorced," and people could see why.

According to Mirror Online, everyone seemed to believe that the reason behind their split was Jolie. However, even before Pitt, reportedly, "fell head over heels in love" with the Maleficent star, Aniston already had doubts about their marriage.

They, allegedly, fought about having kids. Their continuous rose to fame also affected their romance, resulting in high pressures.

The publication stressed that even before Jolie came into the picture, Aniston and Pitt's marriage was falling apart. In fact, in an interview with W Magazine in 2003, Justin Theroux's ex-wife cast her doubts about their relationship.

She started to question if Pitt was indeed the love of her life, admitting she was "always wondering." Anyhow, she acknowledged that the 56-year-old actor was undoubtedly her "big love." Aniston knew there was something special between them and, amid all the chaos, she found it nice to know that there was somebody who really knew her well.
