Meghan Markle did not escape Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding fever in 2011 like everyone else. The Duchess of Cambridge was living every little girl’s dream when she married a real-life prince. The former actress shared how fascinated she was by the celebration years before she met Prince Harry and became his wife.

In 2014, Meghan Markle chatted with Princess Alia Al-Senussi, a descendant of Libyan royalty, and talked about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding. The Duchess of Sussex, who had no idea at the time that she will have the same fate as Kate, was clearly in awe of the celebration.

"Little girls dream of being princesses. I, for one, was all about She-Ra, Princess of Power… We're definitely not talking about Cinderella here… Grown women seem to retain this childhood fantasy. Just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and endless conversation about Princess Kate,” she said.

Four years after the interview, Meghan Markle became a member of the Royal Family. The former Suit star met Prince Harry through a blind date set up by a friend in 2016, and the duo quickly bonded.

On May 19, 2018, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle. Their televised union was watched by 18 million people in the U.K. and 29 million in the U.S., earning them the title of having the most television viewers in the Royal Family history.

Meanwhile, even though Meghan Markle had nothing but nice things to say about Kate Middleton before joining the Royal Family, multiple reports claimed that the pair is not as close as they should be. Some are even convinced that the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex are at war.

According to Katie Nicholl, royal insiders reported that Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton tried to be close but they just couldn’t “click.” The royal expert shared that the Duchesses don’t have much in common. However, that does not mean that they don’t attempt to unite at all. In fact, Kate, allegedly, made an effort to cook Meghan’s favorite meal during a dinner together.

Before all the rift speculations, Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton enjoyed the Wimbledon tennis tournament together in 2018. They were even spotted whispering to each other as they watched the Ladies' Singles Final in the front row of the royal box.
