Meghan Markle became a member of the Royal Family in 2018. The former actress tied the knot with Prince Harry after two years of dating. The couple met on a blind date and hit it off immediately.

Before Meghan joined the Royal Family she was a Hollywood celebrity. The Duchess of Sussex started her career in the entertainment world as a briefcase model on the game show Deal or No Deal. She then became an actress and landed the role of Rachel Zane in Suits.

Meghan had already established her net worth way before she met Harry, however. The duchess was being paid $450,000 a year for her role in the American drama series. She was also earning around $80,000 a year from sponsorship deals.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Meghan's net worth is $5 million. Harry's net worth, on the other hand, is $40 million. This is an accumulation from the trust left to him by the late Princess Diana, an inheritance from the Queen Mother and his former salary as a captain in the British army.

However, Harry's net worth may not be that much as a result of Brexit. On top of that, the Duke of Sussex is expected to pay taxes now he is living in the U.S.

"One problem for the pair is that Brexit has left the British pound very weak on international exchanges. The U.S., almost uniquely among countries, taxes citizens and other 'U.S. persons' worldwide even if they move abroad and never return," financial writer Brett Arends said.

Also, President Donald Trump has said the U.S. government won't pay for Meghan and Harry's security.

Although Harry and Meghan still receive funds from Prince Charles and the Duchy of Cornwall, they need to find sources of income. Previous reports revealed the couple would be creating their own TV company.

Rumor has it that the duke and duchess will be providing voiceovers and producing documentaries on "worthy causes," and this is where they will be earning their money. There were whispers and speculation that Meghan and Harry will try their luck in the entertainment scene.

Meghan has already made a Hollywood comeback when she narrated a Disney documentary titled Elephant back in August last year. Early reviews said the former actress did an "underwhelming" job.
