Meghan Markle had one failed marriage under her belt before tying the knot with Prince Harry in 2018. The Duchess of Sussex was married to Trevor Engelson for two years before calling it quits.

Now, Meghan Markle’s former best friend shed some light as to how the marriage went down the drain. According to Ninaki Priddy, the Duchess of Sussex was “cold” and “calculated” that led to her failed marriage to the American film producer and literary manager.

Meghan Markle and Ninaki Priddy had been inseparable since the age of two, and their tight bond spanned for over 30 years. However, the Duchess of Sussex decided to cut her childhood friend out of her life after she divorced Trevor Engelson in 2013.

Ninaki Priddy shared with Daily Mail that she had a fall out with Meghan Markle when she disapproved of the way she ended the marriage. She said that the Duchess of Sussex didn’t give her ex-husband enough opportunity.

Meghan Markle’s ex-pal added that “there was an element of 'out of sight, out of mind’” for the former actress. Ninaki Priddy noted that the Duchess of Sussex has a “shutdown mechanism,” which makes it hard to negotiate with her.

"All I can say now is that I think Meghan was calculated — very calculated — in the way she handled people and relationships. She is very strategic in the way she cultivates circles of friends. Once she decides you’re not part of her life, she can be very cold,” she said.

Meanwhile, biographer David Jones previously said that Meghan Markle is to be blamed for Prince Harry’s shocking decision to quit Royal life. He added that the former actress is a headstrong woman who rules over the Duke of Sussex.

The biographer, then, revealed that some of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s friends believe that the latter is the instigator of their shocking announcement. David Jones said that one of the former actress’s close friends said that they “saw this coming.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are currently living in Los Angeles after they officially stepped down as senior royals at the end of March. An earlier report claimed that this is what she wanted all along.

Royal photographer Arthur Edwards said that Meghan Markle had no intention of living in the U.K. after marrying Prince Harry. He claimed that, even though taxpayers paid £2.4million for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage for them, the Duchess of Sussex had no plans to call it home.
