The recent episode of The 100 season 7 brought an unexpected twist, as one of the most important characters met her ultimate demise. Fans know that the final installment would feature major deaths throughout its run, but this tragic death surprised many.

In the previous episode of The 100 season 7, we saw the end of the road for Charmaine Diyoza. She is one of the most essential characters and has been part of the story since the early run of the series. But, while her death might be tragic, she was able to redeem herself for all the things that she's done in the past.

Diyoza sacrificed herself to save her daughter's life, a worthy and memorable exit that defines her overall legacy. The final moments of the previous episode saw the character falling victim into the mysterious crystallization -- the same process that wiped out the original Bardoans.

In an interview with TVLine, Ivana Milicevic discussed her character's fate and ultimate demise. She revealed that the original plan for Diyoza was that she's going to die in season 5. When the actress became pregnant in real life, showrunner Jason Rothenberg opted to change her storyline.

Diyoza was supposed to be 100% bad, but the story goes into a different direction after the Milicevic got pregnant. When it comes to her character's sacrifice, the actress hopes that viewers will remember her as an ever-evolving character.

Milicevic feels that Diyoza's sacrifice is enough to make up for all the bad things she's done before. Her sacrifice is all about saving Hope, but in the end, she was able to save everyone else. After all, the character has a maternal bone in her body -- proving everyone wrong.

Meanwhile, Milicevic revealed how she learns Diyoza's fate in The 100 season 7. She said Rothenberg called her and explained what's going to happen to her character. The actress thought it was perfect and beautiful -- literally and story-wise -- death for the character.

Diyoza's death, also, creates a riffling effect, both emotionally and the sequence of events. Since this is the series finale, we could see more unexpected twists and turns. There's a concern for the remaining characters as some of them may not make it out alive until the end. Fans have to be prepared for whatever is coming since there are only a few episodes left.

The 100 season 7 airs every Wednesday on The CW.
