The Crown season 4 is highly anticipated among royal fans because it will cover the romance of Prince Charles and Princess Diana in the 1980s. Around the same time period, however, Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, also met his future wife, Sarah Ferguson, but there aren't a lot of details about their inclusion in the series.

The upcoming season's timeline takes place during the era of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher from the 1980s to the early 1990s. Prince Andrew married Sarah in 1986, who immediately became a controversial personality in the royal family. However, Netflix has been generally keeping details of The Crown season 4 well-guarded from spoilers despite filming some scenes in public.

According to W Magazine, the casting of up-and-coming actor Tom Byrne in the role of Prince Andrew was quietly revealed in March 2020. However, the announcement came when the show wrapped up filming of its latest season and there were, also, no reports of a young actress cast to be paired with Byrne.

Photos of the actor on the set of the Netflix royal drama also appeared online. The images were particularly from the 1984 Buckingham Palace Easter egg hunt with Byrne deep in conversation with Josh O'Connor, who plays Prince Charles in the series.

Byrne has a few TV and film credits to his name since he's just starting out his career. His role as Prince Andrew will be his biggest break, considering there's a renewed interest from the public about the Duke of York's life. Prince Andrew is, currently, making headlines because of his involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

However, The Crown creator Peter Morgan is, reportedly, selective about what stories to include in the series. He, apparently, has meetings with high ranking officials at Buckingham Palace four times in a year to give them feedback about the show.

These officials, reportedly, told Morgan that Queen Elizabeth was not happy with Prince Charles' depiction. So, when it comes to Prince Andrew, Morgan said the doesn't want to give the royals a reason to worry.

Morgan, also, said that he's not going to touch on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle or even Prince William and Kate Middleton in The Crown. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Morgan said that he knows where the show must end long before working on the third and fourth season. He feels that covering recent royal drama would not work because the events are "too close to the moment."
