Production for Korean variety shows Running Man2 Days and 1 Night, and All By Butlers were suspended following a surge in COVID-19 cases in Korea.

According to a report by All KpopRunning Man suspended its regular Monday filming schedule, while All My Butlers, also, canceled recording for new episodes.

KBS, also, announced the cancellation of this week's filming schedule to comply with the government's social distancing advisory.

It was, recently, reported that South Korea recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases since March, prompting the government to mandate the wearing of face masks both indoors and outdoors, Japan Times reported.

The wearing of face masks was, previously, required only for public transport. However, the latest spike in cases prompted the government to impose stricter safety and social distancing measures.

Health Ministry official Yoon Tae Ho said that they are doing all that they can to arrest the spread of the virus this year to prevent its spread to the whole country.

Apart from variety shows, Korean dramas have suspended filming as several actors were tested positive for COVID-19.

Seo Jung Jong from To All the Guys Who Loved Me, Heo Dong Won from upcoming drama Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol, and Kim Won Hae from More than Friends were infected after they worked in a play where 15 cast and crew members were found positive for COVID-19.

Because some of the actors and staff were working on multiple dramas at the time, the filming for Run On, Private Lives, and Startup were stopped, pending the release of the test results of production members who may have been exposed to the virus.

On August 21, Netflix announced that it is temporarily suspending Korean productions to comply with government social distancing recommendations and protect the health and safety of its content producers.

As a result, filming will be delayed for Lee Jung Jae and Park Hye Soo's Squid Game and Our School Now, a show top billed by young actors Yon Chan Young, Romon, Jo I hyun and Yoo In Soo.

It can be recalled that South Korea posted the highest number of new cases last Saturday with 397 new infections. The country has been recording triple-digit increases for the past few days, mostly clustered around the Seoul metropolitan area.

Hugely populated cities such as Busan, Daejeong, and Sejong, have, also, recorded new infections in recent days.
