Meghan Markle received her royal titles when she married Prince Harry. She automatically became a princess of the United Kingdom with the style Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.

She and the royal-born Prince, however, have ceased to use their HRH titles after they stepped down from their posts as senior working royals. Despite quitting the royal life, reports noted that the Queen did not strip off these titles from the Sussex couple.

Earlier this week, though, many critics have asked the Crown to strip these titles from the Duke and Duchess, especially the latter. This comes after the former Suits actress participated in online events where she spoke about politics and suffrage.

Meghan Markle encouraged Americans to exercise their right to vote this coming November. While she did not mention any names of the candidates, several critics, including Piers Morgan, called her out, and have since asked the Queen to strip off the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's titles, according to Cosmopolitan.

The television personality explained his thoughts on social media why the Sussex couple needs to lose their titles. He argued that Meghan is still using the "Duchess" title amid her conversations about politics.

Reports, then, noted that the U.K. law does not ban members of the British Royal Family from voting. However, Queen Elizabeth must remain in "neutral grounds" when it comes to political matters, and the rest of the British Royals, reportedly, follow suit.

Following these considerations, several netizens agreed that Meghan Markle must lose her royal titles. But, a constitutional expert countered that she cannot do it, according to the Daily Express.

Speaking to the publication, Iain MacMarthanne explained that the Queen or the Crown can only strip the Duchess of Sussex's title if the British Monarch gave it to her. He added that "this is not the case" on Meghan's part since she received the title "automatically" upon tying the knot with Prince Harry.

The expert continued and stated that the Duchess holds her styles and titles as a "courtesy," noting that she "derived" it from her husband. Therefore, there is, reportedly, nothing to strip from Meghan Markle.

In her write-up for the Telegraph, royal expert Camilla Tominey speculated that the Sussex couple may lose all of their royal titles if the Duchess of Sussex decides to run for the presidency in the United States, in 2024. She added that, when the couple left the British Monarchy, they made it clear to everyone that they will continue to "uphold the values" of Queen Elizabeth.

This, reportedly, includes "impartiality" when it comes to politics. So, if she makes her bid for the post, then, they will likely lose their royal titles, even the ones that Prince Harry obtained through the royal bloodline.
