Law & Order: SVU season 22 won't address the massive cliffhanger in season 21 finale once it premieres on NBC. There is a question whether or not Sir Tobias "Toby" Moore (Ian McShane) survived his heart attack. It seems like we won't getting an answer to that in the immediate future.

In a recent Twitter post, showrunner Warren Leight confirmed that Law & Order: SVU season 22 will not pick up the Toby Moore cliffhanger in season 21 finale. Leight noted that a lot of things happened since the series halted production in New York and the country.

While the characters take on one adventure after another, the previous installment mostly focused on the crimes conducted by Moore. The character had a cardiac arrest at the time of his trial, something that needed to be addressed.

However, instead of addressing this particular storyline, the showrunner revealed that the first few episodes will see the squad grappling with many of the losses and changes, as well as the challenges that every one us going through at the moment.

While Leight didn't give any specifics as to what they'll address in the premiere of Law & Order: SVU season 22, he previously revealed that there's a conversation about taking on police brutality. This is possibly one of the reasons why Moore's storyline was held back for the time being.

Sitll, cliffhanger will be addressed at some point in the upcoming installment. For now, the writers want to take on the timely issues to show what it means to be a cop during times like this. Furthermore, the series could deliver stories about the current global health crisis.

Aside from these topics, everything remains unknown as to what else is coming in Law & Order: SVU season 22. But, longtime fans can expect the return of Christopher Meloni's Elliot Stabler. Many were delighted with his comeback since he's been gone in the series for a long time. In addition, the upcoming installment could bring more interesting stories to Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and the rest of the characters.

Meanwhile, the series made history when NBC renewed it for season 21. It has become the longest-running live-action series on primetime television. It has been on the air for the past 20 years and has already received a myriad of awards, such as multiple Emmy and Golden Globe awards.

Law & Order: SVU season 22 is, reportedly, set to premiere on Thursday, Nov. 12, on NBC.
