The most dangerous terror threat facing the United States today comes from far-right racists such as those belonging to the "Boogaloo movement" and not from far-left groups the likes of "Antifa."
This determination was made by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in a draft report that will publicly declare white supremacists, or racists, the most serious terror threat facing the U.S. DHS also said the threat posed by white supremacists is more significant than the immediate danger from foreign terrorists such as ISIS.
As for Russia, this country will be "the primary covert foreign influence actor and purveyor of disinformation and misinformation in the Homeland," according to three unpublished documents seen by Politico. All three drafts affirm the threat from white supremacists is the deadliest domestic terror threat facing the U.S. federal government.
On the other hand, none of the three drafts referred to a threat from Antifa, the loose movement of left-leaning militants who president Donald Trump and his administration keeps describing as domestic terrorists.
DHS has taken to describing domestic terrorists under the catch-all phrase, "Domestic Violent Extremists" (DVEs). Among DVEs, the most persistent and lethal threat are "White Supremacist Extremists (WSEs). DHS judges WSEs "will remain the most persistent and lethal threat in the Homeland through 2021."
It pointed out WSEs operate as either lone offenders or as small cells of individuals motivated by a diverse array of social, ideological, and personal factors. The agency also said WSEs are increasingly networking with likeminded persons in foreign countries.
"We judge that ideologically-motivated lone offenders and small groups will pose the greatest terrorist threat to the Homeland through 2021, with white supremacist extremists presenting the most lethal threat," according to one of the reports.
The three documents agree 2019 was the deadliest year for DVEs since the Oklahoma City Bombing in 1995. Among DVE actors, WSEs launched half of all lethal attacks (8 of 16), resulting in the majority of deaths (39 of 48), according to the draft reports.
Probably the most dangerous WSE is the Boogaloo movement, who also call themselves the Boogaloo Boys. Since 2019, at least 10 people affiliated with the boogaloo movement have been charged with crimes, including murdering two security and law enforcement officers and disrupting George Floyd protests.
Boogaloo is a far-right, pro-gun, anti-government extremist movement now often described as a militia. Boogaloo members have admitted they plan to incite a second American Civil War, which they call the "Boogaloo." Members use the word boogaloo to avoid social media crackdowns.
