Many fans were shocked when Justin Bieber lip-synced Selena Gomez's name in his latest song "Popstar" along with Drake. However, it appeared that Gomez did not approve of any of it.

Drake and DJ Khaled dropped the music video of their latest project. Instead of mainly featuring the two artists, it starred Justin Bieber. The MV sparked controversy after the "Yummy" singer lip-synced the name of his ex, Selena Gomez, in the video.

The eight-minute long "Popstar" MV started with DJ Khaled blowing up Drake's phone, asking him to film the MV. The "In My Feelings" rapper, however, doesn't want to do it. Then, he thought there is someone who can fill in for him so DJ Khaled would stop bothering him: Justin Bieber.

At some point in the MV, Justin was seen waking up after a house party. As he walked to the living room, he lip-sync over Drake's lyrics including the part where the name his ex-girlfriend was mentioned.

The MV quickly sparked a buzz among fans. It was further fueled by a certain businessman, named Shazir Mucklai, who released a statement claiming Gomez was asked to make an appearance in the MV. Apparently, the "Rare" singer was asked to make a cameo to end the tension between her and Bieber.

A source close to Gomez, however, denied to People Magazine that the singer was approached for Drake's latest project with Bieber. The insider stressed that even if the "Boyfriend" singer was asked to make a cameo in "Popstar" in any form or capacity, she would "never" say yes to it.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez had been in an on-and-off relationship for years. They were last seen together in early 2018 before Bieber started dating his now-wife Hailey Baldwin in June of the same year. The two got married last year.

Earlier this year, Gomez released her song "Lose You To Love Me" and it was mainly about her heartbreaks. Selena, however, clarified that it wasn't a hate song.

Meanwhile, Gomez hasn't personally responded to the "Popstar" video yet. The singer is clearly minding her own life as she is also busy with the launch of her new business, Rare Beauty.

Earlier this week, Mucklai also claimed he was partnering with Gomez and Sephora for the singer's makeup line. The source close to the singer denied it to People and added Mucklai is not affiliated with either Selena Gomez or her new makeup brand Rare Beauty.
