Before Sofia Richie and Scott Disick officially ended their romance, rumors had it they were getting married. A tabloid claimed they were already engaged in August 2019. But, a year after the purported news emerged, did it really happen?
Star revealed Disick got Richie an engagement ring for her 21st birthday. The former couple decided to keep the alleged engagement under wraps so that his ex, Kourtney Kardashian, would not be upset.
A so-called insider claimed Kardashian would "always carry a torch for" her three kids' father. The publication claimed that only its dubious insider, Disick, Richie, and Kylie Jenner knew about the engagement.
The source explained the self-made billionaire knew her sister would "go crazy" if she learned the news. So, she decided to keep it a secret. The Kylie Cosmetics owner also did not want to betray Richie, who remains her close friend until today.
Gossip Cop debunked the claim, saying it was quite strange that Disick and Richie's engagement would be a huge drama for the KarJenner family. A source close to the Talentless founder also confirmed the story was only made-up and not real.
It insisted it was impossible that only a few people knew about the engagement -- if there were any. In fact, Disick and Richie had proved then that they were never in a rush in their relationship.
Us Weekly reported the ex-couple took things slowly when they were still together. They never thought of marriage or even an engagement. So, it was not a "big topic of conversation." At the time, they were only committed to each other but had no plans to take their relationship to another level.
Disick did a complete 180-degree turn from the time he was younger and with Kourtney to today. He had grown up a lot since then. He was no longer the man who was quick to decide.
Kardashian, allegedly, tried to stop Disick and Richie from getting married. Amid the rumors of a possible engagement between the two then, the Poosh owner tried to meddle for the sake of her ex.
A source told Radar Online Kardashian wanted to stop their engagement for Disick's "best interests" and not because she was still in love with him. However, no one seemed to believe her claim.
Kardashian was never a fan of Richie and Disick's romance because of their huge age gap. She believed the two would end up parting ways, which seemed to ring true today.
