Prince Harry didn’t only turn his back on royal life, he also left Britain to make a fresh start in the U.S. with Meghan Markle. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex briefly stayed in Canada before heading to Los Angeles, where they reportedly lived in Tyler Perry’s mansion for a couple of months.

Recently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved into their new multimillion-dollar home in Montecito, California. Royal authors Omid Scobie and Carol Durand shared in their book Finding Freedom that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex created “a lot of ill will" by keeping their big move a secret from the Royal Family.

They wrote that sources close to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle admitted that the couple was "forced to approach the situation (mainly in the act of keeping the family and their team in the dark about the website)." But, they added the Duke and Duchess of Sussex felt the other royals were "patronizing them."

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said in their withdrawal announcement that they wish to be “financially independent” in their new life. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been living in Los Angeles with their son Archie after officially stepping down from their senior royal roles at the end of March.

A previous report revealed that Prince Charles gave Prince Harry some wise words before his royal exit with Meghan Markle. Royal Biographer Tom Bower claimed that the future King assured his son that he will always have a place in the Royal Family, but warned him that the case would not be the same for his wife.

Tom Bower shared that he is not convinced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to leave the U.K. is for them to be free. He noted at the time that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex needed to work to afford their lavish lifestyle, but they have not found success in America yet as they hoped.

After all the criticisms about financial matters, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they just signed a deal with Netflix. The Duchess of Sussex was an actress before she married the prince, so many already assumed that they would be heading to the entertainment scene after their royal exit. The couple is set to produce films, documentaries, and children’s shows for the streaming giant.
