Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, recently, announced that they signed a mega-deal with Netflix. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to produce a wide range of content for the streaming giant that includes docu-series, documentaries, and children's programming.

But, just weeks after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s announcement, Netflix received a backlash over a controversial film being streamed on the platform. Netizens took to Twitter to vent their anger and even trended the hashtag #CancelNetflix after the streaming giant uploaded the Mignonnes film (Cuties in English), where young stars are being portrayed in a sexualized way.

Since they have signed a deal with Netflix, some people are now calling the attention of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to speak out about the controversy. Others also asked the Obamas, who had a multiyear deal with the American technology and media services provider and production company in 2018, to share their thoughts as well.

One wondered how come Meghan Markle didn't react to the controversial film being streamed on Netflix when she had always been quick to point out something that "irks" her. "Come on Meghan & Harry; it’s time to ‘unlock action and inspire hope’ We’re waiting..." they wrote.

Meanwhile, it was previously reported that Prince Charles may finally be freed from funding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after they struck a deal with Netflix. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s contract with the streaming giant is estimated to be worth up to £75 million ($100 million). Netflix and the couple have yet to confirm or deny the speculations.

Earlier reports revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle asked Prince Charles to "step in” after British taxpayers refused to pay for their security bills. The Prince of Wales is, allegedly, paying for the couple’s round the clock security. According to royal expert Charles Rae, the future king is “giving them £2million a year” to help them pay for their security.

President Donald Trump has made it clear that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should pay for their security bill as the U.S. government will not pay for it after they moved to Los Angeles. A spokesperson for the couple then noted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not planning to ask for security from the government.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said, in their withdrawal announcement, that they want to be "financially independent.” So, this Netflix deal is a huge step for them to make their goal possible.
