Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently announced that they will be producing films, documentaries, and children's shows for Netflix. There has been no confirmation about how much money the couple will make from the deal, but it previously estimated that “it could be around 100 million pounds."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new contract with the streaming giant is a huge move for them to reach their goal to be “financially independent.” However, ITV host Lorraine Kelly is warning Prince Harry and Meghan Markle that they need to ensure Netflix makes a return before they get their cash.

"Netflix won’t be writing that big fat cheque without wanting payback from Harry and Meghan. In television, it’s all about eyeballs. Ratings matter and Netflix will hope the star power of one of the most famous couples in the world will bring an upsurge in subscriptions,” she said.

But, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s popularity, Lorraine Kelly believes that they could make some "good" content and "attract every Hollywood A-lister.” The Netflix CEO Reed Hastings previously noted that the collaboration “will be some of the most exciting, the most viewed content next year.”

Since Meghan Markle has been speculated to return to acting, Reed Hastings was asked if the Duchess of Sussex will go back to her TV drama roots. The Netflix CEO didn’t confirm nor deny the speculations but pointed out that the couple is more focused on producing.

Meanwhile, it was previously reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix deal would cause tension with the Royal Family. The Palace will allegedly demand the right to "cast a critical eye" over the contract the Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed.

“Harry and Meghan did leave as working members of the family with everyone’s best wishes and it is sincerely hoped they find the happiness that appeared to be lacking in their lives. However, it goes without saying any deals they are making will be scrutinized by the royal household,” a source said.

Although it was no secret that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had a love-hate relationship with the media, nobody was prepared when the couple announced early this year that they will be stepping down from their senior royal roles to have a “peaceful life.” The Duke and Duchess of Sussex officially finished their final royal engagements in March and headed to Los Angeles, where they are currently residing with their son Archie.
