Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were told to give up their royal titles. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are making a fresh start in the US after officially quitting royal life at the end of March, and many are not very happy with their decision.
Now, some royal fans don’t agree with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's choices after their royal exit, such as signing a contract with Netflix. And because of that, a lot of them are urging the couple to relinquish their title. However, a royal author claimed that the pair will never give up their title because of Queen Elizabeth.
"I don’t think there is the slightest chance that the Sussexes will give up their titles. They were a wedding present by the Queen to the married couple and it would be a very ungrateful gesture to relinquish these titles as it would, in effect, be a snub to Harry’s grandmother the Queen,” Nigel Cawthorne said.
While Queen Elizabeth stated that she and the rest of the Royal Family members support Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step back from their senior royal roles, the public was not as accepting. In fact, many felt that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex abandoned the U.K. amid the coronavirus pandemic. The couple seemed to have left during the time Britons needed them the most.
Daily Express previously created a poll asking if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should be stripped of their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles. Ninety-eight percent said yes. Most voters believe that the couple should stop using their titles after choosing the celebrity life over their royal duties.
Carole Malone previously claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not all about saving the planet, but greed, deceit, and money. The English TV presenter, journalist, and broadcaster added that the couple was very selfish for pursuing their plan, noting that they were only thinking about themselves and disregard the Royal Family.
She then pointed out that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aiming to be “financially independent” is the “biggest joke of all.” Carole alleged that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are "freeloaders."
Carole Malone also said that Prince Harry is no longer the man everyone loved. A previous report even noted that the Duke of Sussex lost his spark after tying the knot with Meghan Markle in 2018.
