Japanese gaming giant Sony recently apologized for how it handled the PS5 pre-order over these past days. The company also assured consumers and gaming enthusiasts that more consoles would be made available for pre-order. Sony announced on September 16 the official price and release date of its next-generation gaming console.

Sony recently said its apology via Twitter, along with its promise that more PS5 pre-order units would arrive in the coming days. Additionally, the Japanese gaming giant assured fans that more next-gen consoles would be made available through the end of 2020. Sony acknowledged that the PS5 pre-orders could have been a lot smoother.

Fans have long been waiting for Sony to open the PS5 for pre-order and the company previously assured consumers that it would give them ample notice before it went live. However, that is not what happened last week. Sony only offered a day's warning to potential buyers and opened the console for pre-order.

Aside from that, retailers went berserk and opened up pPS5 pre-orders earlier than scheduled. It is worth mentioning that the PS5 console apparently has limited stocks at launch. Essentially, fans who had the intent to get the PS5 on day one would not all be able to do so.

Although Sony already issued an apology for the PS5 pre-order mess, it remains to be seen how it would manage the situation moving forward. Sony previously said that it planned on producing a lot of PS5 units at launch. Meanwhile, early data suggests that the majority of PS5 pre-orders would be the PS5 Standard Edition.

Independent Industry Analyst Benjie Sales shared on twitter that he predicts a lot more digital consoles would be available eventually in the market. However, he doubts that the trend is going to be long term. "But yeah, [for] those wanting a Digital Only PS5, it might be much more difficult to get ahold of than the Disc over the next several months."

PS5 might be Sony's most successful console of all time, according to Rakuten Securities, as shared by Takashi Mochizuki on Twitter. The company predicts that the console would potentially sell more than 100 million units and might even exceed the 200 million thresholds in terms of global sales. Moreover, the report predicts that the PS5 would sell 12 to 20 million by the current fiscal year ends.

Sony's PS5 is scheduled to arrive in select regions on November 12. Other parts of the world would get the PS5 on November 19.
