Big Hit Entertainment scored a legal victory against malicious commenters who targeted BTS. The label reported that one of the perpetrators received the maximum penalty for defamation.

According to a report by Soompi, Big Hit Entertainment updated fans about the status of their ongoing cases against netizens trying to damage the reputation of BTS.

Among those were charged were perpetrators of malicious activities such as ill-intentioned criticisms, spreading of false information, personal attacks, defamation, and sexual harassment.

According to Big Hit Entertainment, one of the perpetrators received the maximum penalty of 4 million won for three separate cases of defamation. The perpetrator will also receive the maximum sentence possible, which could include up to one year of jail time.The sentence was passed by the Seoul Eastern District Court on July 30 and September 1.

In a statement, Big Hit assured that they will continue to crack down on individuals who continue to operate internet accounts to post malicious news and statements about their artists. The label said they are working together with the police to conduct investigations on these individuals.

The label further warned that, if the perpetrators continue to engage in malicious activities after court sentence, they will take legal action and file for damages without opting for settlement and leniency.

Big Hit Entertainment reported that it will continue to furnish law enforcement agencies with evidence of postings with malicious intent for possible filing of charges.

Meanwhile, the label thanked the ARMYs for working together with the company in reporting and flagging malicious content about BTS. They urged fans to continue with their vigilance to protect BTS from further attacks

It can be recalled that that ARMYs actively demanded for Big Hit Entertainment to take a firm stance against BTS' bashers.

In July, they staged a truck protest and parked the vehicle bearing their demands in front of the agency's headquarters. They demanded transparency when it came to the status of legal charges filed against malicious commenters and called out the label for not doing enough to stop the defamation against RM, J-Hope, Jin, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, All Kpop reported.

Big Hit responded by assuring fans that their legal team is on top of the situation and that they are continuously collecting evidence to bring to justice those who intend to bring BTS down with false information and malicious statements.
