Melania Trump has continued to join Donald Trump in most of his recent campaign trips. Earlier this week, she joined her husband, alongside the rest of the First Family, to show her support toward the U.S. President for the first presidential debate of 2020.

Aside from "being there" as his First Lady, an expert stated that she plays an important role in Trump's re-election campaign. Patrick Basham asserted that the former model shines a "different light" on her husband, according to the Daily Express.

Basham, the Director of the Democracy Institute, explained that Melania Trump changes how voters "perceive" Donald Trump. She is an "asset" to the campaign because of her popularity among base voters. He continued that the First Lady's presence seemingly "humanizes" her husband in the eyes of the public.

Despite her "beneficial" role to their camp, Patrick Basham noted that Melania has, also, continued to gain critics and detractors. She remains "relatively unpopular" among Democrats because of her predecessor, Michelle Obama.

The same, also, appears to be true within the Trump family. When discussing popularity and efficiency among the members, the expert stated that Melania Trump is not on top of the list. He, instead, claimed that Jared Kushner surpasses the First Lady in terms of role efficiency.

Basham pointed out that Ivanka Trump's husband likely has the "most significant progress" in comparison to all the members of the First Family. He achieved "important accomplishments" inside the White House, particularly his work on the Arab-Israeli conflict.

In the end, the expert added that these achievements are quite popular among the Trump supporters and voters. This is, reportedly, despite the media's efforts to downplay the significance of Kushner's efforts.

Similar to her (step)son-in-law's case, Melania Trump's efforts in the East Wing have seemingly received the same treatment from the public. Many netizens continue to slam her, adding that she has done nothing in her office.

The First Lady recently became the center of controversies following the release of Melania and Me. Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, who happens to claim that she is Melania's "former best friend," authored the material and included several bombshell allegations to it.

Based on reports, the book focuses on Melania and Ivanka Trump's alleged "tension-filled" relationship inside the White House. Wolkoff claimed that, while the First Daughter has tried to get ahead of the First Lady, the latter has launched subtle attacks toward her stepdaughter.
