The Walking Dead season 10 episode 17 is the first bonus episode set to arrive early next year. It has been confirmed that six more episodes are coming following the season 10 finale. That means that we're going to get two different endings this time around.

Only a few details were known about The Walking Dead season 10 episode 17. But, the bonus episodes are said to be different from what was shown in the series before. While the central theme and most of the characters are still there, some things will change moving forward.

Beyond exploring certain storylines, the series is going to look different from what fans saw in the past. During the recent New York Comic-Con, executive producer/showrunner Angela Kang discussed the changes now that the world is in the middle of a health crisis.

Usually, the series premieres with a giant season opener, which includes hordes and hordes of zombies crammed in spaces. The big difference now, however, is that they're not going to feature these kinds of scenes. This is something that's going to change in The Walking Dead season 10 episode 17.

Kang explained that they can't have about 300 zombie extras with faces smashed together and mouths all over places. Despite the changes, she noted that they're still thinking outside the box to make things scary while being considerate of how many people should be in a scene.

This structure will be applied for The Walking Dead season 10 episode 17, as well as the remaining bonus episodes. The health and safety of everyone remain to be the top priority. It's also unlikely that there would be more surprising appearances moving forward.

In another interview with Deadline, Kang said the bonus episodes were "pandemic friendly" and the "continuation" of season 10. We're going to see the dynamic between Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), and more stories for Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride).

Originally, the current installment consists of a total of 16 episodes -- just like the preceding seasons. However, Kang announced during the San Diego Comic-Con that six more episodes were added, making season 10 the longest installment with 22 episodes.

Right now, The Walking Dead season 10 episode 17 has no official release date. Yet, it has been teased that the bonus episodes are set to arrive in 2021. And since the current global health crisis impacted the series, the premiere of season 11, which is the final season, has been pushed back, as well.
