Prince William and Kate Middleton are "empowering" their children -- Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, to prepare them for their future royal life.

The Cambridge kids, who are in the ages of seven, five and two, have had a widely-praised public appearance in late September. They welcomed Sir David Attenborough in their home and watched his new documentary, A Life on Our Planet, at the Kensington Palace gardens.

Following the viewing, George, Charlotte and Louis took turns to ask Attenborough some questions in front of the camera, which delighted royal fans. According to royal commentator Victoria Arbiter, the meeting with the naturalist had been a well-orchestrated engagement to train the royal kids for their future.

The royal expert said that the children have been given key roles when they had to speak in public. The appearances were not all for the sake of PR but to be a teaching moment for the three young royals.

George, Charlotte and Louis will grow up to a lifetime of royal duties and public service as the heirs of Prince William, the future King of England after Prince Charles. Thus, his children have been encouraged to build their confidence and learn to speak in front of the cameras or among different people at such a young age.

Arbiter also commended Prince William and Kate on how they handle their children's future life. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have protected their sons and daughter from the cameras and yet they have also been slowly teaching George, Charlotte and Louis to have a "healthy understanding" of how the media works. According to Arbiter, such a training will benefit the Cambridge children later on.

But, a critic of the royal family said that Prince William and Kate Middleton must let their kids enjoy their childhood. Graham Smith of the anti-monarchy group, Republic, believes that George, Charlotte and Louis must be confined to a private life and be done with their royal status.

Smith said that it is William and Kate who want their children to have titles and status. He urged the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to follow Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who pursued their own independence from the royal family, made their son Archie a private citizen, and landed their own Netflix deal to earn a private income.

The Republic wants the British monarchy to end after Queen Elizabeth and install a new head of state what will be elected by the people. They don't believe that the future of the U.K. should be ruled by someone who inherited a title. Smith said that, if William and Kate were "self-aware" then they would know that ending the monarchy after the reign of their grandmother will benefit the whole country.
