Prince William is taking clear steps to prove to the royal family that he's ready for his future role in the monarchy. As the second in line to the British throne, the Duke of Cambridge has done a few notable things in recent weeks to show the world that he's more than just an eye candy.

Following the launch of his Earthshot Prize, Prince William sealed his legacy as someone who will be the King of England one day. The Earthshot Prize promises huge cash incentives to people with great ideas on saving the environment and many say that this is such an ambitious undertaking.

The Duke of Cambridge also premiered the documentary Prince William: A Planet for Us All, which touches on taking action to save the planet. The royal dad of three also did his very first TED Talk on conservation, which has raised more awareness to the cause of taking care of trees and the resources of the planet.

Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl said that Queen Elizabeth always knew that the future of the monarchy would be in good hands with her grandson, William. Her heir, Prince Charles, may also be an advocate for the environment but the Prince of Wales has had missteps with some government officials in the past for being too much of an activist.

The spare to the heir Prince Harry, on the other hand, has been blasted for his political activism in the U.S. Some of the British people also think the Duke of Sussex has abandoned his family and country, as well as the monarchy, when he and Meghan Markle uprooted their lives in London to live in America.

Nicholl recalled that more than 10 years ago, Prince William said that he didn't want to be just an "ornament" when he took on his royal duties. He said that he wanted to take action and make a difference, just like his grandmother, the Queen.

Meanwhile, royal biographer Robert Lacey said that Prince William has achieved more for "woke" causes than the two royals, Harry and Meghan, who claim they are progressive. Lacey said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex often end up undermining their advocacies because they take things "way too extreme."

As a result, the Sussexes attract controversy, while Prince William seems to have gotten his message across without getting political with his TED Talk, with his documentary, and the Earthshot Prize.
