Jungkook can do almost anything, which is why he is called the Golden Maknae. The BTS star can sing, dance, rap, draw, paint, cook, and more. However, there’s one thing that JK couldn’t do before, and that is to sing when asked.

Being an idol, Jungkook is expected to entertain the audience, and he always succeeds in that. What people didn’t know is that it was pure professionalism that made the BTS star look comfortable in front of many people.

Some may not know this, but Jungkook was extremely shy when he was younger. While he exudes confidence and a bubbly personality on stage, the “My Time” singer is quiet and would keep to himself off stage.

BTS previously guested on New Yang Nam Show, where the older boys talked about how Jungkook had changed. “Seriously, when Jungkook was younger, he was the kind of kid that really couldn’t sing when asked,” J-Hope shared. Jin chimed in and said, “Yeah. If you kept asking him to sing, he cried.”

RM added that it would take the members 30 minutes to hear Jungkook sing once. Fortunately, with his perseverance and the help of the other boys, JK was able to get over his shyness. Suga then noted that their youngest member grew up a lot.

Even though Jungkook still enjoys his quiet moments, he is now open to being silly with the other boys. In fact, the 23-year-old singer and songwriter instigated some of their crazy antics. If you’ve watched BTS variety shows, such as Run BTS! and Bon Voyage, it is easy to see that JK has outgrown his shyness.

Meanwhile, Jungkook previously opened up about how his shyness started. The “Euphoria” singer shared in his “My Biography” interview for Volume 8 of Japan’s FC magazine that he wasn’t always shy. He even called himself a “mischievous boy.”

While the older BTS members said that they had a hard time making Jungkook sing, the Golden Maknae would show off his talent at school and even sang 2AM’s “This Song” during a field trip. JK’s shyness began when he started auditioning and got intimidated by the crowd in the audition hall.

Jungkook shared that he “shrink after being surrounded by so many strangers,” and started becoming shy around people he didn’t know. This shyness would follow the BTS star until he became a trainee in Big Hit Entertainment. Since the other members were strangers to him at the time, he was aloof with them.

But when V joined the group, Jungkook came out of his shell. He shared that he and the “Sweet Night” singer have similar personalities, which made him feel comfortable.
