Queen Elizabeth is reportedly passing the crown to her heir, Prince Charles, in 2021. A royal biographer asserts that this is the most realistic thing to do as the monarch turns 95 years old next year.

Speaking on the show The Royal Beat, Robert Jobson "firmly believes" Queen Elizabeth will step down. While Buckingham Palace denied this speculation in 2019, the biographer said that it's realistically a possibility because she has been handing down everything to her eldest son in the last few years.

Jobson previously relayed to Daily Mail that the Queen has given her retirement a considerable thought. Apparently, the monarch is aware of her age and would like a seamless transition of the Crown.

Prince Charles, on the other hand, is 71 years old and has been waiting to sit on the throne since his investiture more than 50 years ago. The coronavirus pandemic apparently became a reminder of how much vulnerable Queen Elizabeth is because of her advancing age.

Over the weekend, the Queen decided to move back to Sandringham and stay with Prince Philip as Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced another nationwide lockdown amid the second wave of COVID-19 in the U.K. The royal couple has been living under a protective bubble where strict safety and health protocols are observed to ensure that they do not contract the deadly virus.

Meanwhile, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said that Prince Charles' popularity will rise when he becomes the King of England. He's the only heir to the throne who has been waiting "longer than any other person in our history" thus it will be a huge boost in his popularity once he finally gets the Crown.

Fitzwilliams also thinks that Prince Charles will carry on his mother's role in accordance with the constitution, which is to advise, support, or warn the leaders of the government. However, the Prince of Wales might have a different style as Queen Elizabeth but he will essentially conduct the same role as the current monarch.

Meanwhile, once Prince Charles is King then Prince William will be the new Prince of Wales. He will also take over the Duchy of Cornwall, which he will inherit as the new heir to the throne while retaining the title of Duke of Cambridge. Once he becomes the King after Prince Charles, his Duke of Cambridge title will go to the Crown while Prince George will be the new Prince of Wales and Duke of Cornwall, if he is of age.
