An overwhelming number of Americans believe president-elect Joe Biden won the 2020 Presidential Elections, according to a Reuters poll.

President Donald Trump is continuing to contest the results in court claiming fraud.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll, which had a sample size of 1,363 American voters, was conducted from Saturday afternoon to Tuesday. It showed that 79% of U.S. adult voters believe that Biden won legitimately. Around 60% of Republicans surveyed agreed.

The survey showed around 70% believes the elections were fair. Around 72% agreed that the loser of the election should concede. About 40% believes the transition in January will not be peaceful.

Trump vowed lawsuits in multiple battleground states over accusations of fraud. Legal experts have said that Trump's attempt to discredit the counting will likely accomplish little to nothing because his claims lack concrete evidence and merit.

Biden said during a news conference that Trump's behavior and refusal to concede defeat was an "embarrassment." He added that Trump's actions will also serve to tarnish his reputation and ruin his legacy.

Trump administration officials have also not accepted Biden's win. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters there will be a smooth transition to a "second Trump administration."

Some Republican leaders have yet to officially congratulate Biden. Others have even joined the call to dismiss so-called "illegal votes" and to recount all valid votes.
