Pledis Entertainment confirmed that SEVENTEEN will perform in Japan's 2020 FNS Music Festival on December 9.

According to the label, SEVENTEEN will take the stage and perform their latest comeback track HOME: RUN for the Japanese year-end music show.

SEVENTEEN has been enjoying a boost in their popularity in Japan this year. Last August, they also appeared in Fuji TV's 2020 Summer FNS Music Festival where they performed their Japanese single "24H".

It can be recalled that in May, the Kpop group received double-platinum recognition for their Japanese single "Fallin' Flower." They also topped the Oricon charts, Japan's biggest music chart, with their mini-album 24H.

Unfortunately, SEVENTEEN will not participate in Big Hit Entertainment's 2021 New Year's Eve Live event on WeVerse. The event was organized to feature artists from Big Hit Entertainment and its sub-labels like Source Music, Pledis Entertainment, and KOZ Entertainment in a year-end showcase.

According to a report by Koreaboo, Pledis Entertainment tried to make the schedule work, but SEVENTEEN already had prior commitments on the date of the event.

The news was met with a lot of disappointment from Carats, who wanted to see SEVENTEEN take the stage along with BTS, GFRIEND, Lee Hyun, BUMZU, NU'EST, TOMORROW x TOGETHER, and rookie group ENHYPEN.

Big Hit Entertainment recently released the first teaser for the event showcasing the lineup for performers for the event. The 2021 New Year's Eve Live event will be an online and offline concert, which will be held on December 31. This means that apart from the online broadcast, an offline concert with limited seating is also being planned by organizers.

When the date was originally announced, the timing drew interest from netizens because the event will be held at the same time as MBC's Gayo Daejejeon, one of the biggest year-end music events in South Korea.

Some pundits speculated that Big Hit may have deliberately set their event to clash with MBC's concert to avenge their artists from the network's poor treatment in previous years, Koreaboo reported.

Last year, fans called out MBC for failing to include TXT and GFRIEND in their year-end event. They believed that the decision to cut out TXT and GFRIEND was related to BTS declining to join the MBC concert. BTS was unable to accept MBC's invitation to Gayo Daejejeon because they were already scheduled to perform at Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve event in New York. MBC denied the claims.
