Jin has broken the stereotype of K-pop visuals multiple times. Most of the time, idols who have that title are prim and proper to maintain their status. But Mr. Worldwide Handsome is not afraid to be silly in front of the camera, and he’s even one of the most playful BTS members despite being the oldest hyung.
The 28-year-old singer and songwriter previously shared in a press conference that he doesn’t want to share his sad feelings with ARMYs. Jin said that he prefers to show the good things, which is why fans always see him as a very happy person.
But Jin doesn’t have superpowers and also feels down like the rest of us. The “Moon” singer shared that he “experienced a huge burnout.” He also wondered if he was worthy to receive all the praises after BTS ranked number one on Billboard Hot 100.
Jin realized he had to let go of his anxious and confused feelings because it was hard for him to handle. The BTS star shared that he even sought professional help to help him get through his dark time.
But instead of telling ARMYs about his negative emotions or showing it to them through his actions, he decided to put those experiences into his music, with the encouragement of Big Hit Entertainment CEO Bang Si-hyuk.
“I received counseling for these feelings and just spent my days as normal. However, after speaking to Bang PD about it, he asked me how I felt about writing about my feelings into a song,” Jin said.
On December 3, Jin gave ARMYs a present hours before his birthday. Before the clock strikes 12, the BTS star released a solo song called “Abyss.”
Jin always pours out his heart and soul into his song, but “Abyss” shows a different side of him. This is the solo track he created to share his struggles while he was dealing with some issues.
An ARMY took to Twitter to share their realization regarding Jin’s solo songs. The fan said that “Mom” was meant for the BTS star’s mother, “Tonight” was written for his pets, “Awake” was for his members, “Epiphany” was for the world, “Moon” was meant for ARMYs, and “Abyss” is dedicated to himself.
Because Jin is known for being silly, people tend to forget how great of a songwriter he is. His songs always have a connection to him, and not just some random words put together and thrown out there.
