The free Sony PS Plus Games for January have been announced, with three titles that members can purchase. However, it appears that there has been confusion on one of those games, and Sony is now issuing refunds to those who have gotten “Maneater.”

The other two game titles that PS Plus subscribers can try out are “Shadow of the Tomb Raider” and “Greedfall.” The first one is the third entry into the “Tomb Raider” reboot series, while “Greedfall” is a classic BioWare role-playing game developed by Spiders.

“Maneater,” the game that banks on subscription service at some point, is about a shark seeking revenge with a complete upgrade system. The game moves to a subscription service like PS Plus or Game Pass after some time, and it appears Sony figured out this oversight. Hence, they are now offering refunds to members who ended up purchasing “Maneater.”

Some members have already received messages from Sony about the game. BraeWhyIt, a Redditor, was among the first ones to purchase the game and notified by the company about a refund. Here is the message he received.

"As a subscriber of playstation plus, we will refund the purchase price of this product to your playstation store wallet as this is a playstation plus monthly game. This will not affect your ability to play the game as we have not removed the game from your library."

So while this is being processed, it means members can still play “Maneater” for now while receiving the refund, Game Rant reported. Others have received a similar message, but their refunds have not yet been processed. This is likely due to several reasons, such as the bank used and the fact that it is the New Year holiday.

As of now, it appears “Maneater” is the only game affected. There have been no reports of potential refunds linked to “GreeFall” or “Shadow of the Tomb Raider.” “Maneater could be the first one since it is new and may have been purchased with some time constraint tied to it.

Like in the case of BraeWhyIt, he revealed that he purchased “Maneater” last month. Hence, there could be a queue or a first-come, first-served basis. Hence, other PS Plus members who may have done the same may want to check their inbox since Sony may have already issued a message tied to refunds as well.
