Prince Charles and Princess Diana's relationship continues to attract the attention of many people today. Even though it already ended more than two decades ago, the public remains attentive to all the talks surrounding the controversial marriage.
Cheat Sheet recently covered a part of a biography, centering on the Princess of Wales' experiences as the wife of the Heir Apparent. Based on revelations, friends of the Prince of Wales, reportedly, told him to place his wife into a "home" to get better.
The book titled, Diana: Her True Story, adds that the royal-born Prince's circle thought that she was "unstable." This came after she insisted that her husband was having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles despite everyone's denial of the link.
Author Andrew Morton wrote, as well, that the ones she "trusted and admired" before drove her mad. These individuals, reportedly, maintained their stand that "Camilla was just a friend." Moreover, even the Queen Mother, allegedly, told her social circles that Prince Charles' wife had the "imaginings of a silly girl."
Upon learning that her suspicions were true and correct, Princess Diana developed a "distrust and contempt" for the British Royal Family. She could no longer, reportedly, trust anyone from the royal Firm, according to the same biographer.
A separate report from Cheat Sheet, also, stated that things were not great at all from the beginning. The Princess of Wales even, allegedly, told her sisters that her wedding to Prince Charles was the "worst day" of her life.
She seemingly had the same sentiments, as well, about her honeymoon. In her book, The Duchess, royal author Penny Junor revealed that the special 14-day cruise on board the Royal Yacht Britannia did not go well for the Wales couple.
Princess Diana was not pleased with her husband's decision to catch up on his reading instead of paying attention to her. She felt "offended" that the Prince of Wales preferred to "bury his head in a book than sit and talk to her."
Despite the heartbreaking start of their marriage, the then-future King and Queen Consort of the United Kingdom still did their duties and responsibilities for the sake of the Crown. They welcomed two royal heirs, Prince William and Prince Harry.
However, things officially broke down years after having their two children. In 1992, they announced their separation before the public, according to History. Nevertheless, they remained committed to their royal posts and continued to serve the British Monarchy.
Four years later, though, Queen Elizabeth urged Prince Charles and Princess Diana to divorce. They finalized the papers in August 1996, and the Princess of Wales agreed to relinquish her HRH title.
