Cobra Kai season 4 has been renewed in October 2020 ahead of the season 3 official premiere on January 1, 2021. The first two seasons of the martial arts comedy-drama aired on YouTube Red in 2018 and 2019, before Netflix acquired the series in June 2020.

Now, fans have been wondering whether or not Cobra Kai season 4 will be the final installment. It seems like there are plans to continue to series beyond the fourth outing. This is something that co-showrunner Josh Heald teased in a recent interview with TVLine.

Heald noted that they have an endgame in their heads for quite some time now -- and it's not in the fourth season. He added that they have "seasons' worth of stories" that needed to be shown first before eventually getting into the actual "endgame."

Heald also said that there'd be discussions with their new partner, Netflix. At the moment, the co-showrunner noted they would continue to write at the "same speed" and with the "same path" that they have already set out with from the beginning.

Based on what Heald said, the series will go beyond the fourth installment. That means fans can expect a few more seasons in the future. Now that the show found its new home, it may continue going a little bit longer. Many viewers also started to discover it following its move to Netflix.

Meanwhile, only a few details were known about Cobra Kai season 4. The official release date hasn't been officially set, but the latest installment is eyeing for a 2022 premiere. Executive producer Jon Hurwitz previously teased that the new season "would come out a year after season."

The filming location of the series is in Los Angeles, and this comes with several challenges due to the rise of COVID-19 cases in California. The production might be slower than usual due to the pandemic, especially since the cast and crew need to follow certain health guidelines and protocols.

Cobra Kai season 4 sees the return of Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence, Martin Kove as John Kreese, Courtney Henggeler as Amanda LaRusso, Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso, Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene, and Xolo Mariduena as Miguel Diaz.

The plot of the next installment is yet to be seen, but it will likely pick up the events in season 3. Daniel and Johnny made peace, but the situation gets complicated when Kreese's students invaded the house of the LaRusso -- which leads to a huge conflict.

It sets up a major storyline in Cobra Kai season 4. The three dojos -- Daniel's Miyagi-Do, Johnny's Eagle Fang, and Kreese's Cobra Kai -- will be competing in the All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament. Kreese vowed to leave if ever he loses.
