Prince William and Prince Harry are slowly picking up the pieces of their fractured relationship, and this is great news for the royal family and their royal staff after a feud that got "very ugly" more than two years ago.

A source told Us Weekly that William and Harry have been working together to repair their relationship. The insider said that this would never happen since the brothers' feud, at one point, got "very real, very ugly and incredibly intense."

William and Harry apparently reached a standoff because they dug so much "mud under the bridge." The source said that those around them lost hope for any reconciliation since the rift appeared to be beyond repair.

In August, the Sussex pair's unofficial biographer Omid Scobie said in interviews that William and Harry did not speak for two months after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they would give up their royal duties. Weeks proper to this decision, Harry said in a documentary interview that he and his brother are now on different paths.

As the younger brother, William will need Harry when he takes the throne after Prince Charles. The Duke of Cambridge will carry a heavy responsibility when he becomes the King of the United Kingdom, so he will need his family members to take on other work on behalf of the Crown.

With Harry now resigned as a working royal, William will only have his wife, Kate Middleton, to share in the workload, as well as a few of the remaining working royals. Eventually, the Cambridge children will have to join The Firm, but Harry and Meghan Markle were, initially, expected to support William's reign as well.

But things have definitely turned around for Prince Charles and Princess Diana's sons following a roller coaster year. The source said that William and Harry learned many things from their feud and promised each other that they would never allow things to blow over.

Royal author Robert Lacey, however, said that William and Harry's relationship has completely changed. While he hopes for reconciliation as well, Lacey believes the brothers won't be able to bring back their former dynamics as the heir and the spare.

The expert said that Harry is already enjoying his new life and freedom in the United States. He believes that Harry and Meghan will make the U.S. their home base for the foreseeable future, which gives the Sussexes a very small chance to come back and help out with The Firm.
