A public high school in Alexandria, Virginia has opened a poll asking its student to pick a new school name and Meghan Markle has been listed as one of the choices.
According to the Washingtonian, the Duchess of Sussex joins other names like Rosa Parks, Kobe Bryant, Alexander Hamilton, Martin Luther King and even her husband, Prince Harry. However, some of the choices also sparked some laughs, as someone suggested that the new school name should be Anime High School.
The poll came from T.C. Williams High School, the only public school in Alexandria. According to the Alexandria Living Magazine, a decision to change the school name was made because Williams was a known "segregationist" whose views do not go with diversity and inclusivity.
While there have been over 50 picks, the school board said it will whittle down the choices by February when the city-wide poll will be opened. School officials will also conduct a public hearing for the locals to say why they want the school to be named after Meghan or those on the shortlist.
It comes as the sister Meghan shares a family name with is currently grabbing the headlines for her new book, The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister Part 1. Samantha Markle's memoir is set for release on Jan. 17 but some people have gotten hold of the copies ahead of time and didn't have some good feedback.
According to Newsweek, early reviews of Samantha's book were mostly one-star on the Barnes & Noble website. Meghan's sister said that the Duchess of Sussex will not be happy with the revelations, suggesting that The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister Part 1 will drop the bomb on Harry and Meghan.
However, those who have read the book said that it has "nothing of value" or "nothing enlightening" and that they regretted the purchase. One reader said that the memoir is filled with rhetoric statements that failed to deliver anything substantial about the Sussex's life.
Meghan and Samantha, who have the same father, have an age gap of 17 years. They have been estranged since 2008 thus the sisters never really had a relationship as siblings.
However, Samantha said in interviews that no one was estranged in the family. She claimed that Meghan had been busy pursuing her career on television so she never had the chance to bond with her siblings.
Sources close to the Duchess of Sussex, however, said that Meghan only spent time with Samantha at least two times when she was a little girl. The older sister allegedly also doesn't have a good relationship with her brother, Thomas Markle, Jr.
