Ashley Biden rarely breaks her silence despite her family's popularity in politics. Even after Joe Biden's victory against Donald Trump last November, she maintained her privacy over the weeks.

On Tuesday, though, the President-Elect's daughter sat down in an exclusive interview with Today, according to Fox News. She spoke on several matters, including the inauguration, as well as the unprecedented events in recent weeks. On top of it all, she revealed her and her family's reaction to Melania Trump's decision to break the White House tradition in welcoming incoming First Lady Jill Biden.

She described it as "unfortunate" that they will not do the traditional protocol. She countered, however, that their family is "all OK" with Trump's nonconformance to the "tea and tour" inside the White House.

Following Ashley Biden's revelations, reports explained what the "tea and tour" is all about. Today reported that it is the tradition wherein the outgoing First Lady acquaints her successor with living inside the White House.

Former White House social secretary, then, told The New York Times that this custom "has importance beyond just a courtesy." Capricia Marshall, who served under the Clinton administration, later on, noted that Melania Trump should have invited Jill Biden for the "traditional coffee."

She continued that the tradition gives the incoming First Lady the opportunity to "break the ice" with the residence staff. Apart from the move being a courtesy, it is, also, "logistically" helpful.

Ashley Biden talked about her hopes and plans, as well, during the interview. She emphasized, though, that she does not have any plans on taking a role in her father's administration, according to Market Watch.

The 39-year-old community advocate and social worker stated, however, that she wants to "use her platform to advocate for social justice and mental health." She, also, intends to "push for community development and revitalization," adding that she wants to bring "education to some topics, subjects that are really important."

But, despite sharing these things, she did not explain nor give insight on how she will do these in the next few years. Nevertheless, reports recalled how she has always valued her privacy even being under the spotlight.

CNN covered this aspect from Ashley Biden's recent interview. As noted, she touched on the matter and reflected on the criticisms she and her family have been receiving these past few months.

She shared that there is an apparent "cruelty and meanness," and this is why she does not publicize her social media accounts. She explained that this is part of "having boundaries" for herself. In the end, Ashley noted that she believes in kindness and in the humanity of all the people.
