The due date of Princess Eugenie, Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter, is getting closer, but a royal expert said that her baby's birth wouldn't draw the same interest as Kate Middleton or Meghan Markle's baby.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Daily Express that there will likely be little fanfare over the birth of Eugenie's baby with husband Jack Brooksbank. The expert said that the reason is simple -- it's because Eugenie is not a senior working royal.

Just like her sister Princess Beatrice, Eugenie only occasionally participates in royal engagements, so the public's level of interest in her life is "relatively small." However, Fitzwilliams said that a baby in the royal family will still call for some amount of rejoicing. After all, the Queen said, following Eugenie's pregnancy announcement in September last year, she is delighted with her granddaughter's baby news.

Eugenie's baby will be Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's ninth great-grandchild and will become the 11th in line to the throne, bumping Prince Edward and his family, as well as Princess Anne and her family, down the line. However, the Brooksbank baby will live outside of the royal bubble and be raised as a private citizen just like Archie Harrison, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's son.

According to insiders, Eugenie and Jack do not desire for their baby to have a royal title if gifted by Queen Elizabeth. By tradition, however, the baby could inherit a title from the father, which Jack does not have.

Eugenie married Jack in October 2018 after nearly a decade of being together. While it was customary for the Queen to gift members of the royal family a title once they marry, none was given to the Brooksbank couple. Nonetheless, this does not diminish the Queen's fondness for Eugenie, who is the daughter of her alleged favorite child, Prince Andrew.

Meanwhile, Eugenie is speculated to buck tradition and pick a very modern name for her baby instead of the traditional choices. Royals usually honor their ascendants but the York princess might go for the unexpected, like Matilda or Penelope. However, Punters believe that Eugenie's top choices for baby names are Grace, Elizabeth, Arthur, Victoria, or James.

Eugenie is not the only pregnant royal as her older cousin, Zara Tindall, will also give birth this year. Zara and her husband, Mike Tindall are expecting their third child in late May or early June.
