Dexter revival has been confirmed to be happening on Showtime. The return of the crime-drama was announced in 2020 and it will be in a form of limited series. Now, fans have been getting a lot of updates on what's coming next -- particularly its casting's news.

Recently, Deadline reported that David Magidoff is the latest addition in Dexter revival. The Morning Show actor is set to portray the role of Teddy, a new guy and a cop in Iron Side for two and a half weeks. He's described as "good-natured, quirky, hardworking, and eager to please."

Teddy is scared of his boss, Police Chief Angela Bishop -- another new character played by The Mandalorian actress Julian Jones. While he seems inexperienced and timid at first, Teddy could be a "dependable badass" in his own way.

Dexter revival has been dropping casting news as of late. In addition to Magidoff and Jones, a few more new cast members were announced previously. A separate report from Deadline confirmed that Johnny Sequoyah portrays Bishop's brash and opinionated daughter.

Alano Miller plays Logan, an assistant wrestling coach for the local high school and a sergeant in the Iron Lake Police Department. Jack Alcott will be the character of Randall, someone who had a "meaningful encounter" with the titular character.

In early January 2021, TVLine also confirmed that Clancy Brown is going to be a series regular in Dexter revival. Although nothing is confirmed, his character Kurt Cadwell might serve as the Big Bad. He was born and raised in Iron Lake, with most people consider him as the "unofficial town mayor."

Kurt is a true man, loved by everyone, powerful, and generous. People feel blessed if this person got their back. However, he could also be dangerous -- especially if those he cares for were hurt. He and Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) could clash along the way.

Meanwhile, Iron Lake serves as the major setting in the story. The titular character possibly ended in this small town following the events that transpired in the original series finale. He likely starts a new life here, though it remains to be seen whether he's still a lumberjack.

In terms of the plot, the limited series takes place 10 years after the original series finale. It continues to follow the titular character, who went missing during Hurricane Laura. As for his sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter), there's no guarantee that she'll make an appearance since she died when the story concluded.

Dexter revival release date hasn't been set but it is slated to come out in late 2021.
