It has been more than half a year since fans last saw Myne on the small screen, so fans now await the Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3. After the announcement of the show's return for a third season, when will the viewers finally see the new episodes?
After Season 2's final episode dropped in June 2020, fans started to wonder if there would be Ascendance of Bookworm Season 3. With the success of the anime and the great response it had been receiving, fortunately, it would soon see the light of the day.
Based on the Japanese light novel series written by Miya Kazuki and illustrated by Yū Shiina, it tells the story of Motosu Urano, a bookworm herself and an aspiring librarian. However, with a little twist of fate, she died after being crushed beneath a pile of books when a strong earthquake hit the city.
With her love for books, she wished to be reincarnated in a place where she could read forever. She then woke up inside the body of the young protagonist Myne, per Crunchyroll.
Sadly, contrary to what she wished for, the world she is in has a few books, which are only available for the elites. Anyhow, wiht her determination to continue reading, she used the memories she has left from her past life and create and print her own books.
The anime debuted in October 2019, and after just six months, the second season dropped. However, as it has been eight months since Season 2 ended, fans can't help but worry for its future.
Fret not, as the show has been renewed, TV Season Spoilers noted Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3 is now in development. It may be quite delayed due to the ongoing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic that stopped the production and release of several animes, mangas, TV shows, and movies last year.
The anime's Twitter account even confirmed its coming, saying the "TV animation's" production had been decided. Epic Dope also noted the second season ended with a "To Be Continued," phrase, hinting at the show's return.
So, fans can be assured that Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3 will soon see the light of the day. They are about to witness how the story will progress as Myne now works as an "apprentice shrine maiden" with Ferdinand.
However, knowing the Nobility wants Myne's magical ability, she may soon be in trouble. The studio Ajia-do Animation Works is yet to announce when the new season will be out, but there are predictions it may drop in Fall 2021.
