McDonald's has had its fair share of bad PR over the years for many different reasons, but perhaps the worst of them all was that video of a decomposition-defying burger.

Many were turned off, needless to say, and swore never to eat a burger from them ever again. And you may be one of those people. But perhaps a Michelin chef-made McDonald's burger would change your mind?

That's exactly what the folks of McDonald's Denmark did when it partnered with "one of the country's most renowned culinary geniuses," Chef Paul Cunningham.

The "high-end" burger Chef Cunningham made, called "Homestyle Bearnaise," is immensely popular, Eat This, Not That reported, and sold out only a few weeks after its launch.

What is the "Homestyle Bearnaise" made of?

Homestyle Bearnaise consists of a beef patty with Béarnaise sauce, potato sticks, smoked onion purée, roasted onions, lettuce, and cheddar cheese, and is served on a brioche bun.

While the product is only available on the Danish market, the report said that the collaboration leaves us guessing: could a high-end burger arrive in the U.S. too?

Who is Chef Paul Cunningham?

Cunningham serves as head chef at Henne Kirkeby Kro, a restaurant in western Denmark that was awarded two Michelin stars - the first in 2016 and the second in 2017. The establishment, "part of the eponymous inn," was given both stars under the culinary leadership of Cunningham.

McDonald's brings more goodies to its menu

Although the burger is not available in the United States, the restaurant already has new items for its customers to get excited about.

Fox News has previously confirmed that McDonald's is introducing a new Crispy Chicken Sandwich nationwide on Feb. 24. The sandwich was previously tested at restaurants in Texas and Tennessee.

The sandwich, as sold in Knoxville and Houston, consisted of a fried chicken filet served on a potato roll, covered with butter and pickles, while the deluxe variety featured tomatoes, lettuce, and mayonnaise. There will also be a spicy edition available.

This sandwich is the newest offering in the so-called chicken sandwich wars. Popeyes in 2019 launched a chicken sandwich that became immensely popular and was briefly sold nationally. Since then, several fast-food chains have revealed the inclusion of similar chicken sandwiches in their menus.

However, none of these sandwiches is confirmed to have been made by Michelin award-winning chefs.
