Boruto Episode 188, titled "The Awakening," will be an important part of the current Ao Arc or The Vessel arc. The anime will formally introduce Kawaki, who is about to play a significant role in the series.
Boruto Episode 188 will be a big episode that will reveal more about Konoha's future. The anime is now returning to the canon, adapting the manga chapters, and so, there will be more revelations about the Kara organization and Jigen's evil plans.
Twitter user OrganicDinosaur revealed the next episodes' official titles and synopses to show what would happen next to the series. According to Anime News and Facts, Chapter 188 would be adapting two chapters of the manga, directed by Takashi Asami and storyboard by Yukihiro Matsushita.
Hence, manga readers may already have an idea on what may happen here. So, for the non-manga-readers, here is how Kawaki will join the series.
There is a strange phenomenon that happened to Boruto's body that makes Kashin Koji interested. This makes the enemy escape, giving the protagonist and his team the chance to come out of the "adverse situation" they are in.
They are about to return to the village when they suddenly see a mysterious unconscious boy named Kawaki in Boruto Episode 188. As the young man has the same seal that Boruto has on his palm, this makes them all curious of the similarity.
However, when he wakes up, Kawaki becomes hostile towards Boruto and his pals. Despite the tension, Boruto shows him the seal, and Kawaki reveals the symbol is called Karma.
Comicbook noted Kawaki is a long-awaited side character who plays a huge role in Konoha's future. He is one of the unique characters in Naruto, and his full arrival has something to do with the Kara Organization, which is tied to the celestial ninjas called Otsutsuki.
Otsutsuki is the driving force behind the Akatsuki in the original Naruto: Shippuden series. This only means that Kawaki holds a lot of powers within him that can back him up.
However, it remains to be seen if Kawaki will be Team 7's friend or foe in Boruto Episode 188. By its looks, Boruto, Kawaki, and the rest of the group have a lot to deal with as the Vessel Arc continues.
