Batwoman season 2 episode 9 is going to pick up the massive cliffhanger in episode 8. The biggest surprise here is the return of Kate Kane, but the character is not played by Ruby Rose. Instead, the first version of the titular superhero was recast -- now plays by Wallis Day.

Batwoman season 2 episode 9 is not sharing too much information about how Day's version of Kate Kane will play out in the story. Yet, her arrival does not mean that she'll replace Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie). Instead, it further solidifies the character as the second version of the titular superhero.

The second half of the current installment will focus on what really happened to Kate Kane, which will be played by Day this time around. At the end of episode 8, it was revealed that she is still alive, but the injuries she sustained from the crash made her unrecognizable.

The synopsis of Batwoman season 2 episode 9 didn't note the return of Kate Kane. Perhaps, the series wanted to surprise viewers and fans with her arrival. After all, it was believed that the character may not appear anymore following Rose's departure in the first season.

Meanwhile, Rose reacts to the news about the recasting of Kate Kane. In one of her recent Instagram stories, the actress sends positive words to Day and explained why she didn't immediately respond to it. She said that she knew about this beforehand, but she didn't know where the episode will air.

Rose added that people have been tagging her with several posts, wondering how she felt about it. The actress made it clear that she feels great and has "nothing but good vibes." Based on her statement, she already knew that Kate Kane would recast following her exit.

As for what's coming in Batwoman season 2 episode 9, Ryan Wilder will be confronting the biggest foe in Gotham. It looks like she will be squaring off with Black Mask, based on what was shown in the trailer. He is going to be one of the major foes the titular character has to take on.

Also, Ryan's feelings for Angelique (Bevin Bru) might complicate the situation. Her partnership with Mary (Nicole Kang) and Luke (Camrus Johnson) was put at risk. At the same time, new information emerged, and it forced the people closest to Kate Kane to make a difficult decision.

Batwoman season 2 episode 9 is airing on Sunday, March 28, on The CW. The episode is directed by Michael Blundell and written by Nancy Kiu and Maya Houston.
