Soft drink and snack maker Pepsi has joined forces with the candy company Peeps to create what they're describing as a new, limited-edition "delicious new soda," Fox News and Today reported Friday.
According to a news release Thursday, the Pepsi x Peeps combines the "crisp, refreshing taste of Pepsi cola with the pillowy-soft and sweet Peeps marshmallow flavor consumers love."
The soda comes in packs of three mini 7.5-ounce cans in seasonally appropriate bright pink, yellow and blue colorways.
It is the first time Pepsi will combine a sweet marshmallow flavor in one of its drinks.
The soda is only available through a social media sweepstakes and will not be sold on grocery stores.
In other words, people can't buy it. They have to win it.
"We know our consumers love our limited product drops, and we believe that Pepsi x Peeps will deliver an iconic and delicious pairing that has the potential to become a fan favorite," Today quoted Todd Kaplan, PepsiCo vice president of marketing, as saying in a statement.
According to the sweepstakes rules, participants must share a photo of how they're safely enjoying the spring weather with their favorite Peeps bunnies and chicks and post the photos to either Instagram or Twitter and tag @pepsi, #HangingWithMyPeeps, and #PepsiSweepstakes.
Pepsi will give away 10 grand prizes and 3,160 first prizes, which will include three cans of the Pepsi x Peeps soda, as well as a five-pack of Peeps marshmallows. The sweepstakes runs until March 31.
Social media is not quite sure how they would react to this news:
"Gross. How do you not call it Peepsi?" Karen Howell says.
"I don't like Pepsi and I don't like Peeps. Hard pass," according to TruthPage.
Officials say the Pepsi x Peeps soda could eventually be sold in the market if there's demand for the beverage.
