Prince William is said to have some regrets about warning Prince Harry of his relationship with Meghan Markle as it led to the rift between the brothers, which has continued up to this day.

Royal commentator Katie Nicholl said that the poorly chosen words Prince William had to tell his brother, about not rushing into things with Markle, has become a sad irony. Nicholl, however, conceded that things might have been different with William, Harry and the royal family if the advice was heeded and Harry and Markle indeed took their time to get to know each other.

Apparently, William had to talk to his brother and told him that he shouldn't feel the need to rush his relationship. He also told Harry to take his time to know "this girl."

The word "this girl", allegedly, ignited Harry's anger because it sounded snobbish. Harry, who was regarded as the sensitive one, was hurt and offended by William's reservations for Meghan and did not see beyond his well-meaning advice. In contrast, Harry had been very supportive of William's relationship with Kate Middleton from the start, even as some members of the royal family also had their reservations about the Duchess of Cambridge.

Meanwhile, Meghan admitted to Oprah Winfrey that she went into her relationship with Harry "very naively" and didn't have any idea or background about the actual jobs of the working royals. The Duchess of Sussex also said that there has been no training extended to her as a working royal but she hinted that this might have existed for other royal family members.

The former American TV star also revealed that she thought some of the traditions in the royal family were simply for show and pageantry for the public. She didn't think that the formalities also happened out of the public eye as she was surprised that they had to curtsey to Queen Elizabeth during a private family gathering.

A royal source told Harry and Meghan's biographer, Omid Scobie, however, that they extended every help they could give for the transition of the Duchess of Sussex. A senior aide told Scobie that she was "given all the support" to help her navigate through her royal work.

Meanwhile, the brothers have had a talk since Harry and Markle's TV interview. However, Harry told TV host Gayle King that their conversations have not been productive. Sources said that Prince William has been "struggling" to hold back his real sentiments for Harry and Markle because he wants to defend the royal family. However, Queen Elizabeth has said that their issues should be dealt with in private and not on television.
