Shaman King Reboot has officially started, showing Yoh Asakura's return on the small screen after 20 years. With the recent release of its premiere episode, the anime has dropped its official episode number.

Compared to the original anime, which had its own original ending, Shaman King Reboot would be far different. As Hiroyuki Takei finished working on the manga, fans would see a proper story, faithful to its source material.

The reboot is one of the most anticipated anime releases in Japan this spring 2021. With its official release, it updated its Blu-ray and DVD release details on its website, unveiling its official episode order.

According to Comicbook, the new anime series will be having a total of 52 episodes. As the original show had 64 installments, some believed 52 was not enough to cover the manga's entire story.

However, it is possible Shaman King Reboot will be fast pace and tell Asakura's adventure in a concise but proper manner. Its story can also continue in a new season to feature every critical detail of its story.

Meanwhile, most cast of the original anime reprises their roles in the reboot, and one of them is Hikaru Midorikawa, who plays the role of Silva. He is the Native American Patch officiant and Shaman Fight Selection Committee member.

In an interview with Crunchyroll, the voice actor said he is happy to play Silva again and revealed how he planned to take on the role. As he found his first portrayal of the character low-pitched and not so good, he would add more "astringency" to his performance.

Anyhow, his best friend, Kalim, will have a new voice actor in Eiji Hanawa in Shaman King Reboot. Kazuhiro Nakata previously voiced the said character, but as he is now in his 60s, he has been mostly away from the spotlight. His last TV anime role was Shin Atashin'chi's Karasawa-sensei in 2016.

Before the anime begins, its official trailer introduced fans to Asakura, Anna, Tao Ren, and the rest of the main cast. The clip also gave fans a refresher, explaining shamans' purpose and details about the Shaman Fight, per CBR.

Aside from the cast, its performers also lent their voices for the reboot. Anna's voice actress Megumi Hayashibara performs its opening and ending theme songs, titled "Soul Salvation" and "#Boku no Yubisaki."

She is the same performer who sang the opening and ending theme songs of the 2001 anime. The reboot started airing on Thursday, April 1, in Japan. The international audience can see it on Netflix, though it remains to be seen when.
