New Amsterdam season 3 episode 6 recently aired on NBC, with the title "Why Not Yesterday." Dr. Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold) is determined to build back the healthcare system and make it better than before. However, he recognized that his goal comes with several challenges.

In New Amsterdam season 3 episode 6, which aired on Tuesday, April 6, Max's latest task is to end the systematic racism in health care. He found out that there are inequalities between White and Black doctors, something that he learned just recently.

It was revealed that Black doctors were being paid less than White doctors. Max was further stunned when he learned that Dr. Floyd Reynolds (Jocko Sims) is not an exemption. This leads him to become more desperate in making actions and brings equality to everyone.

New Amsterdam season 3 episode 6 also saw Dr. Helen Sharpe (Freema Agyeman) telling Max that he should start to listen to the people around him rather than trying to find a solution to fix the system. She advised him to listen to the Black individuals working in the hospital to figure out what they need.

Helen is going to play a huge part in helping Max tackling systematic racism and they will set aside some of their personal issues. Speaking to TVLine, Eggold noted that Agyeman's character will be an important part of his character's storyline as she'll direct him to the right path.

Max will try to tackle this matter with the help of Helen, as well as Reynolds. The two could offer him the right approach in tackling the issue. But then, certain challenges are still coming in his way, something that could test him as a doctor and as a friend.

Since systematic racism comes into light in New Amsterdam season 3 episode 6, another topic will be fleshed out in the next episode. Titled "The Legend of Howie Cournemeyer," episode 7 will continue to address the aforementioned issue while taking on another subject at the same time.

According to the synopsis, Max offered free care to all HIV+ patients in the titular hospital during the National HIV Testing Day. This might serve as the major storyline in the upcoming episode, though systematic racism remains to be in focus.

Meanwhile, Reynolds and Dr. Lauren Bloom (Janet Montgomery) argued over their opposing bedside manners. Dr. Iggy Frome (Tyler Labine) waits for his friends to return, while Helen learns that she might need the help of others in taking care of her niece.
